How do I get exact dimensions? I build a rectangle and want it 12″ by 15″ but can’t seem to get it exactly right. The mouse moves too much (or my hand does!) Anyway, I looked at the sketchup help site but can’t seem to find anything that tells me how to do this. I’m sure it’s there, but I’m missing it. Can anyone help? thanks.

From the Users Guide (Help->Sketchup Help):
"Specifying Precise Rectangle Values
A rectangle's dimensions dynamically appear in the VCB as you draw. Specify exact length and width dimensions by typing them in the VCB, and pressing Enter or Return, either after the first corner is clicked or immediately after the rectangle is drawn."
The on-line Guide is really quite thorough and well written. You should try it.
Use the length value box on the lower RH of the screen. Use your mouse to select starting point and direction of line. Type in the length of the line and press Enter. Have fun!!
The advice on using the VCB, Value Control Box is good. You start drawing the rectangle with the Rectangle tool and simply enter the desired dimensions in the format x,y; 12,15 in this case, and hit the Enter key. Note: don't try to click in the VCB. It automatically accepts input when something is happening where your input is needed.
Before you get too far along, go to Window>Model Info>Units and change Precision to 1/64" and uncheck the box for Enable Length Snapping. This will make it easier to set dimensions accurately when you draw and later dimension your drawings. If I were you I would make those changes (along with some others) and create a template that SU will use for every new drawing. See the following link for more on that. http://blogs.taunton.com/n/blogs/blog.aspx?nav=main&webtag=fw-designforum&entry=8
