I am thinking about getting an HVLP system like Turbinaire. Anyone have any experience and wisdom regarding the brand as to its quality, etc.?
What others should I consider? Where is the best price on these systems?
Thanks,

This is purely hearsay, so take it for what it's worth....This is a nice spray system, but the turbine driven air gets warm enough that it can effect solvent finishes negatively. What I mean is that it can cause lacquer to dry before it gets a chance to level out on the coated surface. If you can't spray lacquer, then why buy a spray gun? See what some of the others have to say. I use an HVLP conversion gun. I have good days and bad days with it. I'm giving more attention to shellac (sprayed) and some wipe-on finishes. Both are more forgiving materials for the non-professional.
Thanks. I am hoping to find a good spray setup to use when I make something with numerous small parts and places.

I have had a Turbinaire for three years. It has been great. I spray lacquer and occassionally shellac. The only complaint I have is that the gun gets clogged sometimes probably because of my poor cleaning habits. I wish I had a spray booth which would be much more convenient. I spray outdoors. I would definately buy another Turbinaire.

Thanks. How difficult is it to clean? Any different than others? Since I have never used one, I have wondered about the cleanup.

I go through a routine of taking off the nozzle and adjustment. Then I use a pipe cleaner through the gun and then through the nozzle using the appropriate solvent. Then, I clean the inside and outside of the cup. I actually do this before and after I use the gun. Maybe it is overkill but my clogging problem has gone away.
Dan
Maybe overkill, but I bet it keeps the gun clean.
Do you like the way it sprays? When it is not clogged, do you like what it does?

I have been very satisfied with the finishes produced.
