Excuse my ignorance on this subject, but here in England we don’t have face frame kitchens, all ours are euro style and have been for many years.
Anyway, a client has asked me for a face frame kitchen with inset doors. The doors are no problem, I’ve found some Blum hinges which will do nicely. What I want to know is, how are the carcase parts of the drawer runners mounted? I suppose they will need some kind of internal spacer to bring the mounting face flush with the drawer front aperture ( false front drawers with Blum runners, normally half-inch gap between drawer sides and carcase). Is there an accepted standard method for doing this?
Also, is it ok to assemble the face frame with pocket screws and is this normally done on site?
TIA
John

John , One way is to flush out any interior partition walls to the drawer side where posible. If you use about 1 and a 1/2" stiles you can use a 3/4" back to back where needed .Pocket screws are accepted as an industry standard in production case work .As far as where to assemble , you will need to do some flat sanding after putting the faces together as they never come out perfectly flush,so if you can sand them where you build them ,then perhaps install .
good luck dusty
Hi John,
How about offering them Euro cabinets with an inset door look?
Face frame cabinets waste space, make hardware installation difficult, use more matereial, and take longer to build. The cabinets in the photo have applied end panels - which look like stiles, continuous bottom rail (which hides under cabinet lighting), and a continuous top rail and crown. Base cabinets have an applied, continuous 3/4-in-hi top rail, and no bottom rail. Doors and drawer fronts have minimal, 3/32-in. reveal. Hardware installation is the same as for any Euro cabinet, with standard hinge plates, and drawer slides are mounted on cabinet ends and partitions.

That's what I did offer them, Gary, and what I normally do. I can't see the photo you refer to, but would like to. The reason why she wants a face frame is that she wants each door to sit in a 'frame', a bit like a picture'The 3/4" carcase material with hardwood along the front edge isn't wide enough for her. She has seen a kitchen like this somewhere and that's what she wants. Perhaps you could have another go at posting the photo

Ok, I think I uploaded the photo this time.Namaste,
