I’m looking to buy a rabett plane# 78 either used or new. I have not been able to locate a source. I know that Record made this plane but perhaps there are other makes too. Any ideas?
thanks,
Dimitri

http://www.highlandhardware.com sells the Anant version as well as parts for the older ones. Miller Falls made them as well. Fairly easy to find at flea markets or do a google search of antique dealers and you will find plenty of sources. Also in the Fine Wood Working classifieds are many reputable tool dealers and look in the links on this site and place like http://www.woodcentral.com and you find more than you could imagine.
Hartsville tools sells the one likes the Anant (2 rods, supposed better
than the Stanley #78).
I'm in the market for a rabbet/fillister plane as well. They just mysteriously disappeared from mailorder websites a while ago. By the time I realize that it was too late.Has anyone used the Anant version of the 78/778?
Check on Ebay in the collectible section under tools. There are a lot of them there just be carful of buying from the UK the shipping is steep. Good luck
