I have an older Craftsman 10″ Radial Arm saw (circa 1985/86). It died mid-cut as if the circuit breaker blew. There was no problem with the power to the saw. Pressing the red reset button on the motor housing does not help. Any suggestions on how to get this saw running again or do you think it’s a goner?
Thanks for your help.

Check the outlet. If it works, do the following:
Unplug it and check the brushes. If they look ok, check the switch. If you have a multi-meter, check for continuity from the plug to the switch, the switch to the motor. If you don't have a meter, there should be a motor rebuilder near you that can check/repair it for a fair price.
OPEN THE MOTOR COVER AND CHECK THE SOLDERED CONNECTIONS ON THE CAPACITOR. THESE CAME LOOSE SEVERAL TIMES ON MY 12" SEARS RADIAL (PURCHASED 6/15/70) EACH TIME I RE-SOLDERED THE CONNECTIONS AND EVENTUALLY RAN OUT OF SPACE FOR SOLDER. I REPLACED THE CAPACITOR THREE YEARS AGO AND THE SAW HAS BEEN PERFECT EVER SINCE.
