I have a radial arm saw with the typical metal stand. I would like to make better use of the space underneath it and perhaps make it mobile. I am considering building two 24″ wide cabinets, one with shelves for cutoff storage and one with a divider for small sheet good pieces, and assembling them together on a platform with perhaps casters to make it mobile. I would like to incorporate a hood for dust collection as well. If anyone has built a stand for their RAS I would be interested in the specifics, how it has worked out, suggestions for improvement, or links to plans. Thanks.

Duke,
Years ago I replace my metal stand with a wood cabinet set on a Delta mobile base. The cab has two drawers for storage and a bottom shelf for mics. storage. It works great and is much more stable that the crappy metal stand it came with.

Think about some fold up/down 'side' tables with fold out support legs for that RAS! Sure helps with long stock.

My RAS is set at the end of 8' of base storage cabinets, all at the same height thus eliminating the need for supports. The top of the cabinets also doubles as an additional work/assembly surface when the bench is in use. My drill press is at the other end, similarly situated.
