This seems like a dumb question but I’m looking for a rail and stile set for a router that will handle 1 3/8 inch stock. The places that I have looked (Rockler and the Woodworkers Store) do not seem to carry them. People at both places tried to sell me a set that appears to only work for 3/4 stock for cabinets. I actually bought a set for about $120 and proceded to spend about 4 hours messing around. No matter how I set it up, once I flipped the peice over to do the other side, it ripped out part of the detail on the first side. I haven’t been able to get good info from the people at those 2 stores in my area. Does a set exist for a router? Am I missing something? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Dave

Dave,
Ive never done what your doing, but I think I understand. Do the bits youre using have back cutters? If so take them off. Beyond that you are getting into shaper teritory.

Actually I found many window bits, here are two. I searched on Yahoo for "router bits for window".

Whiteside and I believe Jesada carry sash bits for 1 3/8" stock. I use the Whiteside bits and am very satisfied with the results.

Check out MLCS. I've been happy with their bits. Art
Best things about MLCS is the "Technical Manual" that they throw in (for free) and the free shipping.
Ballew saw and tool. They carry freeborn, and alot other brands

I have a CMT sash set. Built many windows with it. works great. Anyone who carries CMT can get it for you.
