Hi
I just put a new wooden floor in a mobile home and now there is less than 1/16 of an inch under the door when it is opened ( the door opens in ) I want to put a rug at the entryway inside the house, I know I will have to cut an inch or two off the door. My problem is that I don’t want to remove the threshold, is there some thing that I can use to put over the threshold to raise it up the inch or two that I have to cut off of my door. Thanks [email protected]

It's likely the upper surface of your current wood threshhold is shaped rather than flat. The biggest challenge might be shaping the underside of a supplemental board to sit well on the existing without rocking. Additionally the ends of the supplement will have to be matched to the jambs. Finally, will the higher threshhold create a trip hazard for people entering? It's possible given lots of patience. Good luck.

Try a Google search for Tsunami Guard. (I'm pretty sure that is the name.) It is made for garage doors but I installed a section at my shop door and for the first winter of my life air infiltration was eliminated.

If it is a good door, consider raising the whole door. That way you could preserve the threshold and the original door height. Two inches seems to be an awful lot of rise, as another poster mentioned, "that could be a trip hazard."
I would try to raise it just enough to clear the thickest throw rug you might use. I have for many years had trouble with the door catching the throw rug but I plan to replace the 32 inch door with a 36 inch door. I'll have to study the height as I will be replacing the carpet with a hard floor of some kind.
