Hi Gang,
It looks like this is the place to get my questions answered. I’m working on plans for a raised panel executive desk in pine.
First question is, what is the rule of thumb for the depth of penetration for a tenon. That is to say, if I’m working with 5/4 stock, is there any “normal” length for the tenon?
Second question is, for raised panels, how deep should I make the rabbett in the stiles and rails to hold the raised panels?
Thanks, I’d be glad to hear any input you folks might have.
If you don’t mind, you can email me directly at [email protected]

Hello, I'm building a pair of morris chairs for my wife and I'd like some opinions on which glue to use.
After reseaching in my FWW mags I've just about decided on hide glue. Any input would be appreciated. Thank you. Jan
