raised panel bit kit for exterior door.
Hi all, I need a raised panel door bit kit very soon. I like Freud. but all the kit I saw are made to work with 3/4″ stock. My next job would be a solid oak exterior door and I need a set that I can work with 1 3/4″ thick door. How to find it. Can I use the set that for cabinet to work with exterior door?
Any input would be great appreciated

It is possible to make 1-3/4" doors with a 3/4" cabinet bit set but it requires reconfiguring the cutters and making multiple passes so it's generally not recommended. Freud will have a new bit set for 1-3/4" entry and 1-3/8" passage doors available at the end of this year.

tungle ,
I think you are referring to the stile and rail cutters , not so much the raised panel cutter . If you only have one door to make and unless you will make more in the future , the cost for a set of cutters to do the job you need can be in the hundreds of dollars 2,3,4, or ? The panel detail is not as big a problem as you can raise both sides of a single panel or place two back to back . Maybe you could make the door frame tongue and groove or M & T and do a start and stop cove cut around the inside of the frame to ease the square edge ?
good luck dusty
