Been buying most of my rough sawn lumber from a friend and getting really good prices and wood but I’m going to have some logs cut this saturday that myself and acouple of friends cut down{ 2 walnuts,2 cherry,1 big white ash, 1 sassafras and what I think is a hackberry } My question is this, what is the going price for a sawyer these days? I live on Lake Erie so northern Ohio is the territory anybody got a clue, sounds like 30 cents a board foot is the going fee, sound right?

that is what I charge (IN), assuming no special situations - you provide all labor to handle boards and waste, and clean up the mess (assuming I'm bringing the saw to your location) - I'll cut you enough stickers out of the marginal material to stack the lumber, n/c -
if you don't have log handling capabilities (forklift/skidsteer), drag the logs up into a rack so that it is easy to row them to the saws loader - I hate muddy/dirty logs and so do the bandsaw blades -keep them as clean as possible - drag them on frozen ground - know what you would like to have regarding dimensions - it's nice to have the wind at my back when sawyering, dust blowing in your eyes makes for a long day - have fun!
