Earlier this year I bought a few Anant planes just to see what they are like. So far, the only complaint I have is excessive play in the depth adjusting mechanism. When first tuning them up I found the steel in the blades a bit harder than I am accustomed to making them a bit difficult to hone, but the benefit of the harder steel is that it also seems to hold an edge better than other stock blades.
The blades themselves, which I initially planned to replace, are considerably heavier than what one finds even on old Stanley’s. They ain’t Lie-Nielsen, but they ain’t bad.

Jeff,
Similar feedback here. They aren't an oil painting, but they are satisfactory. Still not as good as modern Stanleys however. The point on blades is interesting to note. Thanks.
