This may be a silly question but I’ve been looking at some Dewalt 682 biscuit joiners online (ebay specifically) and have seen a couple that come in metal Dewalt boxes. I have never seen or heard of a Dewalt tool in a steel box but this does not mean it doesn’t exist. Have any of you seen this? I just want to make sure I don’t buy a rip off imitation.

I borrowed one from a friend of mine a few years ago and it came in a metal box.

That is what my Dewalt biscuit joiner was sold in, no imitation.
I have an original Dewalt cordless drill (about 25 years old now) and it came in a metal box.

I bought a Dewalt powered portable planer less than 5 years ago and it came in a metal box
Mine came with a plastic box.
FWIW, I think it's a nice tool, but I use biscuits less and less over time, and have seriously considered selling it several times. $20 Kreg pocket hole jig is more useful to me, plus it's not hard to do biscuits with a router...just some food for thought to help prioritize your tool purchases.

Hey guys,
I bought it. The guy who sold it was great. I found it on ebay and he happened to be in my neiborhood so I asked if I could just buy direct and he was very accomodating. The tool is in great shape and I paid $90. It had the case, manual and all attachments plus three bags of biscuits. Now I'm just trying to figure out the best way to use the damn thing. I know I bought it for something!
My Dewalt toys, three drills, a recip saw, and a biscuit joiner all came in metal boxes.
