I had my DeWalt 14.4 battery packs rebuilt by Bulldog and they sure didn’t last as well as I expected. Has anyone rebuilt their own batt.packs ? Can’t imagine it would be too difficult to solder up 12 sub c batteries in series. ” Just Batteries ” on the Net offers many sub C’s for about $2.50 each. Thats $30 for a full load plus shipping. 1100mahr, 12mahr, 1400mahr avail.

I tried it once(Milwaukee 9.6) took the battery apart, then saw that it was a LOT trickier than I thought, those cells are packed in there very tightly and not at all easy to solder together in the configuration that they are in, at least not by me. They seem to be soldered together in some kind of jig with a long flat tipped soldering iron. Not a standard soldering iron (i.e. weller)
You can get much better cells than what goes into them stock ($$$) You can even get them in matched sets.
Just talk to the folks who race Remote Control cars.
I like SANYO KR-1800SCE Ni-Cd Sub-C cell
P.S. I don't think I'll try it again.
Rebuilding you own Battery packs.. I called my government her in the USA and asked.. I was arrested?
Id sneek into a Modern USA Submarine and see what they have in battires!
You'd be surprised actually. They use lead-acid storage batteries. 126 cells weighing in at about 2000 lbs apiece. Each cell produces 1.5v but also a phenomenal current capacity.
