recommendations for best crank neck chisel
Hi everyone,
Looking for recommendations for what folks believe is the best crank neck chisel. Looking for a good user and not a museum piece. Hopefully something affordable and not necessarily made by a master smith.
Thank you,

I have a Narex, 1/2" crank neck chisel. Pretty much the most useless chisel I own. I mean, the quality of the chisel is absolutely fine, I just never have the need to use a crank-neck, and I work exclusively with hand tools.
If you don't mind my asking, what do you plan to use a crank-neck on?
There are about a billion crank necks made by Buck Brothers . Every pattern maker in the country had a set. You can find them for a decent price, and they are excellent quality.
They are plentiful because they have limited use in furniture making. I seldom use mine, but on the rare occasion I do, it comes in handy.
I also have a 1/2" Narex crank neck chisel. It works fine but it needed a fair amount of flattening on the back.
I do a lot of hand work and find it very useful.
WoodRiver. Very satisfied, like the handles, not nearly as much flattening at any of the Narex.
Look at the Veritas “trimming chisel” set in PM-V11. Best I have come across.
