I would like some recommendations on electric air compressors to power 2-3 HVLP conversion spray guns (with remote pots). I’d like recommendations on brands, horse power, cubic feet per minute, etc. Also, I’d appreciate any advice on things to avoid. Thank you for your advice!

Paul,
It's going to depend on the type of guns you have and the percent usage they are going to get. HVLP guns can consume anywhere from 6 to over 20 CFM at up to 90 PSI. They can be in use anywhere from "occasional" to practically 100% on a conveyorized line.
For sure, you are going to need a 220 Volt sationary commercial air compressor. Piston compressors should be sized to handle peak loads with about a 50% duty cycle. Overheated compressors die quickly.
Ingersoll-Rand and Speedaire are available from Graingers. They are not the cheapest, but they are reasonably priced and good quality. The sales staff should be able to help you on sizing.
