Sometime in the not too distant past I lost a thumbnail
screw for my rebate plane. I have written to Record on a number
of occasions seeking price and availability for a replacement,
but as of yet, no reply. Any suggestion were I can obtain
this item? I would prefer an indentical replacement versus
something from the hardware store.
Thanks in advance for any assistance. Steve

Steve,
Try contacting Garrett Wade, Lee Valley, or another supplier that sells Record. If they don't sell it, I'll bet they know who does.

Jeff,
Thanks, will try GW tomorrow. Tried my local Woodcraft store
but to no avail.

Why don't you just buy a thumbscrew from mcmaster.com and be done with it. Most likely the screw is metric.

Hi,
Was not aware of that sites. Unbeknownst to me Record
has gone out of business. Shows how long my woodworking
has been idle. Will try that source. Thanks, Steve
Steve,
I just typed in... record hand planes... in the google search, got several pages. That were I'd try.
Thanks again to all for suggestions. I tried Jeff K's suggestion
for Lee Valley. Wow, a great response by the customer assistance
lady (Sue) who has the part I need. Will place an order with
them this week for items I want (at better prices than
other places I have dealt with in the past).
