Here’s a link to an “eBay” store that is liquidating Record vises, planes, and spoke shaves. They have both metalworking and woodworking vises, although the woodworking vises are the smaller, 7″ size. See they also have Nooitgedagt planes and chisels. I know the chisels are quite good. (I hope the planes are since I bought one of the smoothers.) Look like good deals. Not much traffic either.

(Note. Before editing I had this reading, among other things, “7 foot vise”. Imagine that puppy!)

Looks interesting, but after viewing their feedback "CAVEAT EMPTOR".
Don't know. My order arrived today; was shipped on Monday; everything in order. I started to get nervous when I read your post, so I checked out their feedback - very little negative in the recent past, and most of it came from folks who hadn't paid for their orders and wondered where they were.

I've purchased from them several times in the past. One of my favorite sellers. Often have good deals on tools. Only problem I ever had was when I won 3 small items and paid for them all at once. They got the records confused and thought I'd only paid for one item. Couple emails figured out the problem and straightened it out. Items arrived quickly and as described, though it cost them more for shipping then I paid total, as they sent the one they though I'd paid for immeadiately, then the other 2 a couple days later when they realized their mistake.
Good to deal with. They quickly appologized for the mistake and made no issue of losing money on my order because of it.
Have bought some marples chisels, Irwin router bits, & some fancy pipe clamps from them in the last couple years..
Haven't looked at them for awhile, but appreciate the heads up.
Jeff,
I bought a set of these chisels when they were going for USD20-.
I feel that I got my money's worth - they aren't much chop and need constant sharpening - don't hold an edge for long. About the same as the Marples blue chips.
Cheers,
eddie
