Recs/Thoughts Delta or Grizzly 120 V Cab/Contractor Saws
I need to get an secondary table saw (limited use/backup/”somewhat” portable) that is wired 120 and is in the $1000 +/- price range. I’ve seen the Grizzly G0771Z which meets the criteria generally. The Delta 5000 series (36-5052/36-5000 & 36-5152/36-5100) do as well. I’ve only had experience with Grizzly when working as luthier’s apprentice – we had some sanders and dust collection units – I think one had to be returned. I’ve never owned any Delta table saws or Delta products. Specifically, any recommendations/experience about the particular table saw units mentioned above. Additionally thoughts about the companies and reliability.

I vote for the Grizzly because it uses a traditional (replaceable) motor.
I've never used either saw, but I've read on various forums about the unusual motor inside the Delta. If something goes wrong with it, you are dependent on Delta for parts or repair or replacement.
Posts on those same forums indicate some people experience difficulty getting Delta to respond.
I've attached a picture I found on the Internet, of the Delta motor.

Thanks Mike will look into Delta motor...and understand of course Delta now is not Delta 40 years ago as well
I highly doubt I would buy a new Delta product these days. If you find an old Delta, great.
Understood on that one
