I am refinishing my stairs. Because my 125-year-old newel posts and handrail had some sections that had been painted white, I decided to strip everything. I am now trying to decide the best finish for these four beautiful newel posts and handrail. The wood handrail has such a lovely tight smooth grain. The oak on the four newel posts is also quite lovely. Help? What is the best way to finish this project?
