Lumpy...I have the Long Ranger from Grizzly and use it on my dust collector and have had it for a couple of years, works great. My dust collector is also 220 but I think its 1 1/2 or 2 hp. Check with Grizzly, but it should work for the 3 hp. Hope this helps. Rod in Appleton, WA
Quick question:
In the pictures of the Long range system, it appears obvious that the dust collector plus into the unit. Does the receiver have a pigtail with the 220 Plug attached?
Thanks,
Dale
drduvall...Yes there is a 5 foot pigtail that plugs into 220 and 2 holes on top for mounting. Hope this helps. Rod in Appleton, Wa
Rod,
Thanks for the info.

Long Ranger 3 user. Very good on a 3 hp Onieda system. Two years, no problems.

I have the x10, small remote fob, works with my dc and vacuum. they have a 220VAC module which is rated for 15A.
lumpy--
I think I would be in divorce court if I did not have an r/c for my d/c. i have my Oneida hooked up to it. I think it is a brand called Ranger.
I prefer a low voltage system hooked to switches on the blast gates. You have to open the blast gate anyway so it is very convenient to have the collector come on when it opens. It also reminds you to shut the blast gate when you are done.Tom

I was cautioned to never have all of the blast gates closed at the same time to avoid collapsing the duct work. In all honesty, I have accidentally done this with no ill effects, but I would be bummed if I did collapse the ductwork. Just a word of caution from someone who rarely practices any!
John
Oneida told me that was not a concern with the ductwork I am using. Of course with my system the dust collector is never on unless a blast gate is open and it shuts off as soon as the gate is closed.

I use Long Ranger which I got at Woodcraft.

I could not find one that was rated higher than 15 amps, and my 1½ hp unit draws 17.2 FLA (full load amps). I bought the Smart Switch remote system and wired it up to control a NEMA rated motor starter; the motor starter operates the dust collector. That should last as long as I live.
I have one called Smart Switch...from Fernbrook. They have 115 and 220 systems RC's. http://www.dnet.net/frnbrook/shopgadgets.htm this should get you there.

I bought a remote control unit for truning table lamps and such on and off. I use it to switch a relay with a 110v coil, and 220v contacts. I've been using this same unit for about 8 years now, and it is still going strong. The parts for this setup were about $25 when I put this together.
