Removable marking on finished wood. Is there anything I can mark finished planed wood with that I can later remove? Pencil and ball point has to be sanded to remove and chalk leaves too wide a mark. Any suggestions?

Apply masking tape first, and mark on it.
If you don't press hard enough to gouge the wood pencil wipes off with acetone.
Of course, by finished I assume you don't mean really finished. That would kill most finishes. Are we getting confused yet?

RW,
I have taken to using "completed" when describing the status of a project prior to finishing. SWMBO has a better understanding when she will get her next piece of furniture in the house that way.... :)

Acetone did the job. Many thanks.
