I use Bartley’s Gel Varnish for finishing. I find that soap and water doesn’t work too well in removing the varnish from my hands. Still sticky afterwards. I’m thinking waterless hand cleaner would be the best agent to remove this stuff from my hands but was wondering if there was something out there that may work better. What do you use?

Paint Thinner works great.
Better yet, wear gloves.

(I just used the Dark Mission Brown - even with gloves, I got some on me and use paint thinner to get it off. Then I use a hand mosturizer to undo the damage of the paint thinner).
Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with an ax.
mark,
I thought of wearing gloves but it just doesn't feel as comfortable to me using gloves to get a good feel for the coverage (weird I guess). Yeah, makes sense to use paint thinner and I do have it already in my shop. Thanks for the suggestion...Regards,

You might try a barrier cream. You rub it into your hands before you start a dirty job, and it prevents nasty stuff from sticking to you. http://www.manoproducts.com/ is one. You can find similar products with the fiberglassing supplies in most auto stores.
Thanks Jamie and Gretchen for the information. I appreciate it...Regards,

Try one of the mechanic's gel hand cleaners, Go-Jo, Orange Goop, Fast Orange, etc. They all work for me.
As said, paint thinner and then good soapy water.
I'd get the wife to do it...
EDIT:: I just cut the fingers off of the rubber gloves.. Hard to get on but works for me...

"Painter's Wipes" might work. I use them to get glue, Watco, some other stuff off. They're sold at Lowe's in one of those dispensing tube-like things. In the paint department (surprise, surprise).

Thanks Jamie. I'll be near a Lowe's at noon today. I'll check them out...Regards,
