Hello!
What is the best way to remove water-based polyurethane from a wooden table top? Unfortunately I overwatered a plant that was on a cloth pad, and mold developed in the cloth, which infiltrated the poly and the wood grain. The only option I see is to take the table top down to bare wood, and then refinish it.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.

Card scraper,then sander.
I like to use a cabinet scraper. Easier on the hands and seems to last longer than a card scraper.
Chemical stripper. Then sand/scrape.
Any of the above, but you'll have to strip to bare wood. You could also use an electric hand planer.
Apply stripper using a brush. Stripping product should be thick enough to set for approximately 10 minutes without drying out. Work in an area small enough to be within easy reach, when stripping floors or other large items. Scrape the area with a plastic scraper or plastic putty knife
