Hey sawdust breathers,
I picked up a bunch of pony pipe clamps (yeah, I needed more of course) from a WW shop recently. I discovered that two of them were broken and I’m looking for suggestions on a fix. The problem is the small rivet that holds the metal clamp pad to the end of the screw is sheared off. This means that if you retract the screw the clamp pad stays put instead of retracting. They still clamp fine but I spend too much time fiddling with the pads. Anybody else run into this problem and have a fix for me?
Thanks in advance.

Drive or drill out any remaining pin and replace with a roll pin. The older ones were drilled straight through, newer ones have a rivet like pin from one side. A roll pin is like a small split cylinder. Should be available at any hardware store with those lillte drawers full of odd hardware parts.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Hammer1, great idea! I'm off to the hardware store in the AM! Many thanks.

I fix mine with a piece of a nail with the ends bradded over. The roll pin idea is better, but the nail works too.
bldrbill,I've got a nail in there now but I couldn't get the interior end flattened enough to stay in place. I think I'll give the pin idea a shot tomorrow. Thanks
