I recently broke the motor bracket on a Craftsman bench saw that I inherited from my father. It is so old, identified only by a Catalog number rather than a model number, that Sears not only doesn’t stock parts but doesn’t even recognize the number. Does anyone know of a source for parts for old power tools. Thanks for your help.

I'm assuming that you want to keep the saw because it was your fathers and I'm assuming that the bracket is cast iron. If it is, you are faced with four options... first, and probably the best option is to take the parts to a GOOD welding shop and have them weld it. If done properly, the part will last for many more years. Second option is to search for another saw in poor condition that you can salvage the bracket from. A third, and VERY expensive option is to have a metal fabricating shop make up a new bracket for you out of sheet steel. And fourth, possibly someone on this board knows who Sears got the parts from (contracted from) and hopefully they may be able to help you with a replacement.
