I recently acquired a used 5″ Bosch random orbit sander, #3283 I believe. The only problem is that the Velcro “hook” on the pad is ineffective, needing replacement. Rather than replace the entire pad, I’m seeking the hook material with a PSA backing. Years ago, I purchased a 6″ square of this material which I used to convert another sander to use hook & loop sheets, but lately, I cannot locate a source! Can anyone help? The Bosch replacement pad will likely run $8 to $10, and I recall paying $2 or less for the sticky-back conversion sheet @Walmart. Naturally, domestic Velcro isn’t suitable because of the excessive pile height.
Any help is appreciated.

Home Depot or Rona (in Canada) carry them. They're called Hook and Loop conversion kits (typ.) for PSA sanders. I bought one for $8 Canadian a while back to put onto one of my lathe faceplates.
Thanks for the information. Went by Home Depot (it's inventory time there, what a mess!) and after finding the hook & loop conversion kit on the inventory, they finally found them (on close-out) near the bench grinders. Two, 5" eight hole PSA discs of hook material per package for $3.99. Perfect for the Bosch. Bought two packages! Now I'm back in business!
By the Way ---- saw a new, carefully assembled display of Bosch 18V tools, so it looks like they have decided to add these to the selection. I've always found the Bosch drill & sander accessories, but few tools. The intro prices seemed fairly good, but I'm afraid you can beat them any day if you monitor Ebay auctions closely. Sooner or later you will catch everyone asleep and get the buy of the century.
Thanks again,

I found that the quality of the replacement pad from Bosch is much better than the original. Kinda like my '83 Bronco. A brake piston siezed and destroyed the caliper. The original piston was polycarbonate, the replacement was aluminum. Did both sides and never had that problem again during the 13 years I drove it there after.

We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.
