Dear billy dee,
The new Jet jointer/planer combo machine would be an excellent alternative to separate jointer and planer. We tested a preproduction sample here at Fine Woodworking, and it performed well. For me, the machine has two main attractions: A very competitive price, and a jointer bed that swings away in one piece; that makes changeover from jointer to planer extremely quick and easy.
