Does anyone know of a reasonable source for repair parts for Stanley planes?
My (now sharp) old #4, made in the USA, Stanley plane is in need of a couple of parts if it is to continue. Like a new chip breaker (the old one is petty much “tuned” to death), and a new gizmo that contacts the wheel and breaker and moves the iron down and up (the current one is flimsy and thoroughly worn out).

I bought a Ron Hock blade and chipbreaker for my stanley #4. It is simply great. The additional thickness of the Hock blade makes an excellent smoother. I'd highly recommend upgrading to the Hock blade and chipbreaker for your smoother. I may even replace my "good" block plane blades with Hock blades. Just search on google for Ron's website.
I'm looking for a lever cap for a Stanley #1 that is otherwise in good condition. My wife's cousin bought it for $5 at a rummage sale in Haight Ashbury. This is the least useful plane ever made, but those who look at planes instead of planing will pay a bunch for them.

I would advise you to look into that Stanley #1 plane. It could be worth a LOT of money!
Finding a chipbreaker for that plane will be an exercise big time!

Best source?
Stanley Parts and Service Dept. Very reasonable prices. If you have questions about threads and interchangeability with older models give them a call.

Get on eBay and buy a 4 that has some other defects - cracked tote or rusted sole etc. - and canibalize the parts you need. It should cost you $20 or less (with shipping). Something like this:

Great inputs, as always.
Thanks
