I inherited an 1978 Central Machine Taiwanese drill press that sounds like a pencil sharpener when running. There is also some lateral play in the quill. Best guess without tearing it down is the bearings are shot.
Has anyone changed the bearings in a drill press? How difficult a job is it? Is this machine even worth the effort?

It's not difficult but don't know what your skill level is. Take it apart and have a go at it. What can you loose. If you don't try you will never know. At worst case scenario you get a new drill press.
RickL, thanks for the feedback. I will give it a shot.
