Hey all,
I’m very new to woodworking and I’m about to tackle quite a doozy…I’m looking to resaw about 500 board feet of red oak and use a router to tongue/groove the planks. Any ideas on tools? I’ll need a bandsaw, table saw, router, and shaper/planer. I can spend around $3,000 to $4,000. Thanks for your help!

This jobs sounds suspiciously like a ploy to buy a woodshop. Come to think of it, it just might work. Let’s see:
14-in. – 18-in. bandsaw, with your desirable resaw height and a hook-tooth blade… $700 – 1,200
10-in., 3-HP cabinet saw, not essential for flooring, but here’s your chance to equip the shop with a workhorse tool… $1,000
6-in. or 8-in. jointer, for flattening (the broad faces) and straightening (the edges). The planer won’t do this; however, you can probably squeak by and not joint your resawn floorboards, and simply thickness them in the planer … $600 – 1,000
12-in. benchtop thickness planer, for milling to equal thickness and smoothing… $300
3 HP router, shop-made router table and bits… $400
Looks like you can do it for under three grand if you don’t get the tablesaw; even less if you don't get a jointer…

Happy shopping!
