   Hi omni ,

                       You could ask here on this forum , someone will be able to answer you , probably from experience . A wonderful source book is called " Understanding Wood" by Bruce Hoadley.

           so what wood do you have questions about ?

                 I'm looking  for multiple dark/red species for a production run with the machining/finish properties similar to makore.Thank you for your input.   Omni

                 I have never used Makore , but how about Brazilian Cherrywood ?
