I was wondering if anyone could advise me on a panel glue up strategy. I have an antique table panel that has separated at the glue line. The top finish is fine and I need to glue it back up without getting squeeze out on that side as I can’t scrape or sand it off. I was thinking of applying masking tape to that side to prevent it but had an issue in the past with tape pulling off the finish. Any thoughts out there?

They make masking tape that is specifically designed to not tear off the finish. I have one here. Frogtape- delicate surface painters tape. You'll be pleased to know it has " paint block technology" ! I find that with masking tape that the longer its on the harder it is to remove. With gluing you should be good to remove the tape in about an hour.
