Hi
I was asked to look at 3 old doors 1906 vintage. The bottom of the out side of the doors seem to be a fat 1/8 ” QSWO. veneer. Its starting to buckle, and the top rails are moving.
I could stick my finger under the door and feel a couple gaps in the core.. Huge beveled glass inserts. Quite a beautiful piece of old workmanship.
I the AM I will get some pics.
Has anyone done this? or do you know of a source for Real New Old Doors.
I have made doors.
This is situated in a small town South Sask Canada. I told them this time of years is not the best to start. So lots of time to get up to speed
Appreciate all and any advise.

shoe,
the times that i have done that sort of restorative work, i had to take the doors down and glue and clamp accordingly. i found it best to charge by the hour as there were always unseen, hidden issues. is the door you are working on getting wet? it is 103 years old, how long has it been warping?

I repaired an refinished front doors built in the 1890's. If the bottom front is 1/8th veneer it can be carefully pried off. Inspect the substrate and re-glue. If not possible the toekick area could have an applied brass toekick to hide it.
Sounds like it'll need reglueing throughout.
Expert since 10 am.
I've repaired two old wooden doors of this era in my time. Both times, I could have rebuilt the doors with new timber for the effort and time it took to do the "repairs". Once you open them up, you're apt to find a serious can of "whup-####" of a mess. I did.
Keep this in mind when figuring out how much you're going to charge.

Jeff and all. Thanks as promised Door pics I got this afternoon. Company avenue.. I was looking at an old photo and the house had a complete walk around veranda . Built by one of the first Doctors. Third door is the office door. The other pic is what I have been doing four days, gutting another old place and tearing down, Roof in ceiling is the original house and the rest is the additions.Would prefer to do doors, than this but it pays well. and is not FWW. but very cathartic sometimes
shoe, don't mean to stir, nor state the obvious, but someone's jacked yer walls dude!
