Retrofitting Delta 50-760 Dust Collector
I have read about people retrofiting the Delta 760 Dust Collection System on Amazon by placing a 20-gallon metal can below the motor to collect large pieces of shavings and stopping them from entering the bag/filter system. This supposedly is better for the bags, filtration efficiency, etc… However, I have been unable to see a real picture of a completed retrofit. Has anyone in this forum done a retrofit of this Delta and how well does it perform. Could you share what the final picture looks like? Thanks.

I have retrofitted my Delta 760 with a 30-gallon metal trash can equipped with a cyclone lid (Woodcraft). By adding a few boards to the bottom of the cart you can raise the trash can with lid flush to the intake of the dust collector. You must remove the Y-fitting on the intake that comes with the 760 for this to work. I use duct tape to seal the connection between the cyclone lid and the intake. You have to remove and replace the duct tape every time you empty the can but that's not a big deal.
The system works. It takes much longer for the plastic bag to fill up if you add a separator. I've been using the same bag now for two years although I have emptied it twice. I just reuse it afterwards.
If you use a planer or jointer a lot, you'll have to check the can frequently because it fills fast. Once you see a lot of stuff filling the bag- it's time to empty the can.

It works great
I added an onboard dust Separator to the Delta 50-760 Dust Collector that I own, and in my opiniuon it's the best bang for the buck in a portable Dust Collector. It's very efficient, and takes up a minimal amount of space. I showed it to the editors at FWW and they weren't interested in doing an article on it, so theres no sense in wasteing my time showing it here.
Shame on them
How could Fine Wood Working make such an incompetent decision? They are depriving us of the brilliance that is Charlie L(whatever his last name is). We should rise up and demand they publish the work of this intrepid scholar. I will personally pledge $1.89 toward the publication of this groundbreaking, world changing breakthrough in dust collection technology. We owe it to the world to expose his most excellent creation!
Long Live Chuckie!!!!!
Shame on you !

Yeah Wericha, growup.
Lyptus,
I just bought this same setup and am about to connect it all. Could you post pictures of yours? It isn't clear to me that the trashcan will fit on the cart since the Woodcraft lid inlet is not centered on the lid.
Thanks,
David
