Retrofitting support posts to dresser legs
I recently completed five dressers and discovered that the supporting legs are not strong enough.I have devised an effective cure by adding decorative support blocks behind the existing legs.I plan to apply leather to these blocks to protect the floors.Has anyone used leather? any other thin material? Apply leather or other with contact cement?

Leather is a bad idea. It will hold grit and scratch the floors. Pick something both solid and slippery like UHMW plastic.
What _MJ_ said.
Plus, you can get the UHMW in the form of cheap cutting boards, or if you are feeling super enviro-friendly, milk bottles are made of the stuff. You can clean them up and (at least according to youtube - I've not done this...) melt them into a pliable mass using a sandwich toaster.
Might get into trouble domestically tho...
Why not finish the support block just short of the floor. Unless you made the legs out of thin veneer, that should be enough...
Thanks for the input.Read comments re glueing UHMW and am prone to consider a 3m product.I found 1/4 plastic and will also consider putting a small screw below the surface as extra insurance.I need 20 legs and made 25 so i will begin experimenting. Strong recommendations to torch the surface of the plastic to allow adhesion .
Why is fixing harder than making ????????
