I am interested in finding plans for a 4 post bed. Specifically a rice carved bed with a pattern for the rice carvings. Thanks!!!

You could go to your local library and page through their collection of "The Magazine Antiques". You might find a close-up photo of the rice pattern you could use to make your own drawing. Another method, much easier, is to buy the posts from Adams Wood Products, a FWW advertiser, Morristown, TN, 423-587-2942. They have a rice bed post in several species. In 1998, a cherry rice post was $109.95. Antique beds sometimes had the carved posts at the foot of the bed, where they were seen, and plain posts at the head where they were draped with fabric. Adams sells a plain post (#A0804), which matches the rice post for $79.95 (1998).
