Ridge of lacquer at edge of piece after aerosol spraying
Hi,
I’ve applied a couple of coats of Minwax aerosol spray lacquer to a small box, maybe 6″ x 4″ x 4″.
After spraying the entire box and letting it sit there was a ridge of lacquer built up along the bottom edge of the piece.
I sanded it smooth with 220 grit, and tried again, this time spraying only a single side and then let it set up horizontally. I still got small ridge of laquer at the bottom edge, and it was horizontal so gravity was not pushing it down.
I can sand it again but before doing so am wondering first how do I not get this build up at the edge anymore?
I do not think I am applying it too thick. The most recent pass along a 6″ edge takes less than one second to complete. Just one pass, no back and forth. Earlier coats were thicker, but if it was 1.5 seconds I’d be surprised.
How do I get rid of this ridge of lacquer for good and keep it from occurring again?

Did you break the sharp edge. One of the purposes of easing the sharp corners is to ease the surface tension that is present at sharp corners when finishes are applied. This allows the finish to flow smoothly over the edge.
