Morning,
I finally bought a 12″ compound miter saw. I saw that HD was having a sale on their 12″ and it was a grand total of $250. This price included the saw, laser, stand and warranty forever.
I took the saw home and assembled the stand and put the miter together. It was pretty much right on out of the box. It cuts well, and is put together very well. I really like the handle and the blade guard. Blade changes are really easy also.
What I don’t understand is in the last FWW review on miter saws, FWW did not review this saw? For those of us that do not need a slider, this saw is fantastic! If you need a saw to cut rough sawn lumber to starting dimesions like me, give it a look, I don’t think you will be disappointed.

Did you keep the stock blade?
For now I am going to use it. I am in seach of a chopmaster though. For what I am using it for, it works just fine.
The problem I had is I have my own sawmill and kilns. So when I brought a long board into my shop, I had to use a jigsaw to cut the board into the pieces I wanted. Needless to say, that got old quick. So that is why I bought the miter.
