Hey all,
I had an unfortunate event which resulted in my jointer attempting a double backflip over the tailgate of my truck and a face plant finish on asphalt. The end result is that no damage (apparent) was done to any of the machine except the IC Base which is in 3 separate pieces now.
I’ve been looking up and down for a replacement part (Ridgid part number 824853-1) to little avail. Does anyone know where to find this part, or other brandings of the same part? I think Craftsman has one that’s the same, but similarly, I couldn’t find one available.
I did call Ridgid. They said I could buy the whole assembly (in feed, out feed, base, wheels etc) for $550 plus shipping and a wait until July at the earliest. Seems like I should just wait for a HD sale and buy the whole thing again at that price.
Thoughts or alternatives from anyone? Can I fabricate one from mild steel and be okay?

Looking online, that part seems to be the bit with the ways for the tables, and maybe a bearing mount.
I don't think you could make that part easily.
Suggestions:
1. Dismantle the machine and sell the parts.
2. Braze the casting back together. This can be remarkably effective.
3. Bolt and epoxy the casting. Not such a good idea.
4. Use the parts to make your own Mathias wandell style machine.
A lot of Craftsman and Ridgid stationary tools are the same. Both are/were made by Emerson Electric. Of course, model changed over the years as they evolved.
I wouldn't put too much money into that trying to fix it. More things are bound to need replacing as you get into it. And there are lots of used machines out there for less than the parts will cost you.
Thanks Rob and John. I think both of you confirmed what I was thinking. No matter what, a broken strap is an expensive mistake.
I might keep a look out for someone selling one of those jointer models, maybe someone's got one with a broken motor or something.
Otherwise, I have a full set of parts for a Ridgid JP06101, minus an IC Base, for sale, lol.
