Bill Peck reviewed the Ridgid Model EB 44242 in the last Tool Guide. I went out to my local Home Depot and bought one. The model on the box was EB 4424, was not on the display floor but up top on a rack, dusty and had been there a long time. When I unpacked it and started it the motor was fried (smoking). Returned it for a refund. Is the EB 44242 a newer version than EB 4424 or was that just a misprint in the Tool Guide? Looks like a great machine but I do not want an older version if that’s the case. Thanks.

I'm going to guess it was a typo as there is nothing I can fiond on a 44242. I had the 4424 and dad still has it and it is going strong after years of use. Light duty but, a great tool for the price. I used the oscillating belt more than the spindle.
Thanks. That was my thought also. I want to use it for making scratch built model boat molds and think it would be perfect for round hulls. Again thanks.
