Jamie: Yup, its funny how soooo much is happening in the "Tool World" these days that even IM lost at times just too much to remember cause these companys change hands all the time anymore, who owns what & who makes what for who..ohh how I long for the Good Old Days when Tools were Tools & you knew who made it & would stand behind it.. They were the Grand times in Tools, you could be proud to say you owned a "Craftsman Power Tool" or a Black & Decker Drill or any of there portable power tools,Dewalt was a Radial arm saw,
Delta was a trusted name in stationary power tools,Miller Falls & Stanley were the Icons of the hand & power tools line.. Milwaukee & porter Cable were the main staple of any contractors stable of power tools. Ha yes we have more tool companys now but did we really gain anything??Hmm I really don't think we did, but know what IM not giving up any of my older tools cause I can always look at them & have that twinkle in my eyes as I remember "The Good Old Days"
Yup you can just call me a silly old man... ToolDoc

Welllll, I had a hangover too, but not from the picnics -- from spending 36 hours with a high-powered 6-year-old boy. Wow!!!! Am going out for breakfast and a spot of shopping, then will come home and post the pics.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie: Bet you were glad when the little tyke went home Huh!! & what ever would make you think that I have a hangover,ha,just kinda sorta a heat related induced, plus lots of noise from exploding aerial rockets & the high pitched squeals & yells from the DJ is all that might have caused it..
ToolDoc
Yep, I understand the heat-induced part for sure! It was pretty hot here (for Western WA, anyway). Here's the link to the Cafe post I just did:

Didn't Ridgid make many of the Craftsman tools? I'd heard that basically Sears said one day "By the way, you're on your own." So they performed the ad blitz we all saw at Home Depot, etc.
Next, M Wards will rise from the dead and buy Sears and Ridgid and sell them to someone they don't like. ;)

Butch: Your correct in that Emerson Electric- parent company of Ridgid did mfg power tools for sears/Craftsman for a good many years until they & Sears had a parting of ways.. Mongomery Wards coming back to Haunt Sears..HMMM I Don't think were going to get to see that Horror show..LOL....

Tool,
I see there is a bit of a tool thread startin' here so FWIW, Milwaukee Tools for the most part, are still made in Milwaukee (actually about two blocks over the city line but close enough) While they do mfr. and out-source stuff, they are still pretty much what they have always been. (Actually better IMO)
FWIW, I am slightly biased as they are a client of ours (we do some of their prototyping and tooling mfr.) but compared to so many of the other power tool mfr's out there, they are doing there best to stay the course in our rapidly changing environment.

IM Sorry to have to Break this to you BUT Milwaukee has started moving some of there mfg to Mexico.. IM not sure if thats Bad or Good for the consumer,But its bad for the citizens of the USA that work for Milwaukee.. Dewalt has also moved some of there mfg to Mexico also,as far as Dewally goes I could care less if they moved there mfg & service center to the Moon..cause there sales & service sucks..
