Hi, Folks.
Does anyone have experience with the RIDGID
12 In. Sliding Compound Miter Saw? There is something very appealing about this saw – maybe that it looks so well made. I would like to hear from someone who has had experience using this saw. The warranty seems to be a good selling feature too. I think the warranty is for 3 years and that could possibly be the best in the industry. Any comments would be appreciated.

I've had one for about a year now. Seem's to be a great saw. If you do deciede to buy one, throw away the cheap A$$ blade that they give you with the saw; mine wore out noticably after about 100 cuts on 2x4's and could see that the carbide was failing and had pitch on it. I bought a Freud 40 tooth blade for about $50 and that has worked well for the limited use that the saw gets.
I don't know how much you plan on using this saw and if you are a small business or just a hobby type guy, but one thing to consider is that 12" mitre saws have a large footprint. and this comes into play when considering infeed and out feed tables ETC.
I have dedicated wall space for this saw and it takes up room in the shop. The stand they sell looks pretty good and seems to be a good solution for those with space issues.

Handyman Magazine in the May/June 2004 issue rated seven 12 inch compound miter saws. The Ridgid came to light as the best value even though it was priced slightly higher than some of the others. It was compared against Bosch, Delta, Dewalt, Makita, Porter Cable and Ryobi. The Delta came away as #!, but the Ridgid was rated best value....I've got a dewalt myself and like it..but my next ones gonna be a ridgid...I've looked at them as well and hope to find somebody on a job site that has one so I can look at it in detail and also talk to them about it. For the record, I make my living as a professional carpenter/construction worker, lately I've been building restaurants that have all wood interiors in the Oklahoma/New Mexico/Texas areas......I just bought a Ridgid 18 volt combo kit this afternoon, based on the fact that Porter Cable was bought last year by Black and decker and even though the PC I have now is still running strong after 5 years of commercial use, I bought Ridgid since I'd rather go without than own a BD product....hope this helps....I'll help in any way possible.......
