I have one. During its "maiden voyage" I was running 200 b.f. of rough-sawn hickory through and it started to smoke and scream. I called the 800 number and they told me to take it back to the nearest Home Depot for a replacement, no questions asked.
Since the replacement I've had no problems. I've used several of the portable ones and a few stationary ones and I would recommend the Ridgid over any of the 12/13 inch models, if onbly for the lifetime guarantee.
Good luck
Rocky - I've had one for about a year and have planed pine, maple, and walnut with great success. I bought the Delta 560 first, but could not get it properly adjusted and the fit/finish was very poor. One thing that's nice about the Ridgid is it weighs about 20 lbs more than the Delta or Dewalt. This added "heft" helps keep it stable. I also have a Ridgid contractor's saw and am very pleased with it. The quality of their products is second to none. Don't listen to everything you hear on these boards - Ridgid makes good tools! Good luck with your purchase.
