Looking at my latest table I thought, “I wish I knew everything I don’t know.” Just sharing a passing thought as I stare down at the Gabon Ebony tabletop I was contracted to build.
Nice highlights, though. Black over maple legs.

EBONY
TABLETOP!!!!
I weep at the cost of an ebony pen blank!
Can you post pictures?
If you knew everything you don't know, you would be Maxwell's daemon. Even so, the three body problem means you couldn't predict the future, so things could still go wrong!
Also, think how heavy your head would be to hold a big enough brain-store. Looking down at your ebony table top might be fatal, via neck-snap.

Rob,
Mercifully, she shouldered the $700 price tag. On another note, woodworking's usually fun for me. Then I encountered the ebony monster. It arrived with a warning label - "May dull blades, bits, etc." Too bad it didn't come with a guarantee against operator malfunction. They don't tell you all the work has to be done without the assistance of power tools. That stuff doesn't take kindly to tear out, less than razor sharp blades or anything dropped on it.
A picture will be forthcoming.
