Hi Folks,
I am ripping 1 inch ash on a grizzly 1023 3hp table saw with a Forest Woodworker 2 blade that is in good condition. The ash is being cut to one a quarter face framing for a entertainment center casing. Unfortunately no matter what I do I am getting
scorching so I have taken to cutting a bit more than one and a quarter and then running it through the planer. Have not worked with ash before and I was wondering if anyone had advice–is this common to ash? Should I consider getting a dedicated 24 tooth FTG blade? Thanks in advance for any thoughts or advice. Sandy (Sorry for cross post to wood and materials but did not notice the general discussion forum.)

I had some issues of buring when I built my sons bed out of Ash. I traced the problem to the setup of the Table Saw. Once I realigned the fence and the blade everything went fine (I also gave the table itself a light coating of wax that I buffed off to help with the feed rate). I was using a non branded 3hp saw with a pretty cheap blade in it at the time - all I could afford. I did clean up everything on the jointer after the rip cut thoughy but I had been planing on doing that anyway. I was cutting 8 foot long boards of 6/4 stock.
Is it only Ash that does this to you? Are you able to try a test cut with another timber type to check?
