Riser block for Delta bench mortiser?
Does someone make one, or am I on my own on this?
I have a bunch of parts to mortise at a little over 7-inch.
I am sure I could make a hardwood block spacer and buy some longer machine screws for jacking it up, but would prefer something in machined steel.

I don't know how the Delta is designed, but with the Steel City, you can unbolt the base, and turn it around and mortise away. If that doesn't gain enough height, you could either put the mortiser on a platform, or place the head past the edge of the table and have stock support somehow build out there at the right height.
Here's a picture of how a friend set his up for deep mortises (thanks, Len!). The Steel City is a heavy darned thing, took major clamping to get it secured:

forestgirl,
Thank Len for me. The pic gave me an idea on how to mount my benchtop HCM.

Hi, Bob, I'll pass that along. That Steel City mortiser is one I picked up on Craig's List and shipped to him. Take note that it took a lot more clamping than he initially expected to keep that beast stable when it was bass-ackwards like that. ;-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
forestgirl,
I finally got some pics of my machine island and the crude beginnings of my DC system. Just finished the RAS/CMS setup tonight, about an hour ago. It's a prototype to see how it works. I'll put up some pics tomorrow.
It ain't purty but so far everything works really good. When I cleaned off the router table the DC sucked everything up off the table with just a little help from the shop brush. When I ran some molding thru it this weekend past, not a spec anywhere but in the bag!

"It ain't purty ...." If it were purty, I'd have to go on over there and mess it up! Looking forward to the pics, Bob, really interested in how you've got the tools and DC arranged.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
RISER BLOCK
PART NUMBER: 909872
Fits the 14-651.
Thank you RSaunders. GREAT information.
I made my own riser block out of a block of teak I had lieing around. It was really easy. Then I simply got some longer bolts (plus washers) which go through the mortising assembly, through the 4 holes in the teak block, and into the base of the mortiser. I used a ratchet wrench with a socket to remove and remount the bolts. You will need another person to hold up the mortising arm as you are bolting it in. This works great.
