I’m currently in the market for a bandsaw. Plan to do some re-sawing. Are the riser blocks option on the Delta 14″ saw effective?

simply put, yes.
Well for small investment you DOUBLE the resaw hight of your saw , probably the best upgrade you can do.
Do it now before you invest in alot of blades , you will have to buy longer length ones (105") after you add riser block
I have this set-up and Just resawed some 8" cherry, worked great.
especially with my Timberwolf 1/2" blade
Steve: If you have an older Delta Rockwell,as I do,you may have to fiddle with the lineup pins in the riser to keep the upper and lower wheels in proper alignment. Definitly worth the effort.Be advised that with work flat on the table you now have a saw with a throat of 13"While you are at it,I would add the high pressure spring from Ittura.I can successfully resaw cherry on my old saw up to 8" ¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬PAT¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
I have been thinking about putting a riser block on my saw. I have a 14" ENCO, Does anyone know where I could get the block ? I figure in the worst case I could have metal fabricator put something together. My consern is when you install a riser block should you also install an extended upper guide bracket ? If you don't are there any problem with the blade tracking when you cut thinner material ?
I am not all that familiar with the ENCO brand of bandsaw.Mine is an ancient model that sports a tag on the top wheel cover that says "Delta Milwaukee"I have never been able to find a serial#.I did install a longer piece of hex stock to support the upper blade guides. I did not replace the blade guard that slides up into the top wheel cover. When the blade guides are adjusted for material up to about 2" the guard does not quite quite enter the top housing.I have never considered that a safety problem. There is a wooden slotted guard that fits over the blade on the side next to the column.I did make a longer replacement for it.If you properly align the top and bottom wheels,I see no reason why you will have a tracking problem. As stated in my original post,I did need to ream the dowel holes used to align the new riser to my old saw. It may be that the diminsions for the dowels in newer saws are slightly different. FWIW¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬PAT¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬
