I’m new here, so I’m sorry if this rehashes an old subject.
I currently have a Craftsman 10″/3HP table saw, not a cabinet saw.
Is it possible to put a riving knife on this thing?
If not, is there a good, cheap (under $1000) saw I can get with one?
Thanx,

Seems to me there have been a couple of plans referenced that were "make your own" riving knives. Not being a metal worker, I didn't pay close attention. I don't know what the new Saw Stop contractors version will cost, but it's designed with a riving knife, isn't it? Check it out at sawstop.com

The beauty of a riving knife is that it stays within a fraction of an inch of the blade no matter what height the blade is. To do this, the knife has to be mounted on the same component in the saw that supports the arbor as it moves up and down to change the blade height. On most saws sold in the U.S., there isn't an attachment point for a riving knife, although some of the bench top machines have this capability, it depends on the saw's design.

Thanx,guys.
I'll check out the 'Saw Stop' option.
I didn't know there was a contractors model.

Contractors saw is due to debut soon, but I haven't checked for awhile to see exactly when.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
The Ryobi BT-3100 has one. At $299 it fits at least part of the "under $1000" requirement. Some people like it, but I'm not sure if it's fits your definition of "good".
