My Porter Cable RO sander came with a dust canister on the exhaust port. I would like to discard the canister and hook the sander up to my shop vac. Adapters can be a problem but I can fabricate those. My problem is that I can’t find a source for a small diameter flex hose. Anybody know of a source for the hose?

How about Porter Cable? Go to http://www.amazon.com/ and do a search on Porter Cable hose. There are a couple of different sizes, so be sure you get the correct one for your model.

I went to the Porter Cable web sight and found nothing. However, using your suggestion I think I found what I need at Amazon. I agree with many of the reviewers at Amazon that there needs to be some kind of vacuum standardization on the tools, hoses, and adapters.
Thanks for the help!
"I agree with many of the reviewers at Amazon that there needs to be some kind of vacuum standardization on the tools, hoses, and adapters."Yes, that would be great, but it will never happen. It's amazing all the different sizes (English & metric) for hoses and attachments. The fittings aren't always round either! I tried several fittings and hoses to get my ShopVac and Bosch sander attached. By the time I got it all to work my sander died for the second time with very light use, so I got Bosch to give me my money back. I had to start over with a new sander.
Festool, But you don't need their anti-static hose(black and green) get the gray one Part# 452 877 It's 1" X 11.5' @ $54.50 and it will plug into your shop vac and the sander. Nice and flexable.

The one Porter-Cable makes works well, but you will need an adapter on the ohter end to hook it to the shop vac, unless you happen to have the Porter-Cable vac.
I hook mine up to the shop vac, with a drywall liner bag, and have virtually no dust escaping.
Also, the same hose fits the dust collection ports on the P-C biscut joiner, and routers.
I bought one of those cheap plastic drywall sanders from HD, and used the hose from that. The adapter also fits the PC . I think it cost about 15 bucks for the whole thing. It doesn't fit my Makita though -- it's about seven-eighths of an inch, way smaller than any hose I can find.

Try Bosch, about 10 years ago I purchased a 15 ft. long hose about 1-1/2" in diameter for my ros and it works great. I have it hooked up to an Onieda dust deputy and then to the vac. Hardly any dust makes it to the vac with a hepa filter. The cyclone is full of very very find dust ans saves changing the filter on the vac.
At Home Depot you can get a small diameter accessory hose for Ridgid shop vacs that works very well.

Hello,
I had the same problem a few years ago.
I went to the Home Depot and found that 1" plastic water sump pump hose works well.
The only draw back is that his type of hose doesn't like to roll up very well for storage, but it is very light weighted hose and works well with my Porter Cable 5" sander.
I hope this helps,
Vance
I tried that once. It screamed like a banshee.
I tape a cheap adapter to the dust port. I cut a slot to clear the ridge in the ROS dust port then insert a vac hose. Maybe this pic is more clear, other part is my coffee lid sitter.
